What Pois is

Pois (pois.academy) is a self-study platform for Portuguese as a foreign language, in two tracks: European Portuguese, modelled on the published shape of the CAPLE diplomas (ACESSO to DUPLE), and Brazilian Portuguese, modelled on Celpe-Bras. It provides grammar units, exercises, a vocabulary trainer, conjugation drills, writing and speaking practice and practice exams. It is not an examination centre and it issues no official qualification.

It is not an official examination body

Pois is not affiliated with, endorsed by or accredited by CAPLE, the Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa, INEP, the Brazilian Ministry of Education, Camões, I.P. or any other certifying body. The practice exams are inspired by the published format of those papers; the items are our own. Pass marks and Celpe-Bras band boundaries reproduce the published figures and are labelled with the date they were read.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for everything done with your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has access. We may suspend an account that is used to abuse the service or other users.

Learners under 18

A learner under 18 may use Pois only with the consent of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on the learner's behalf. The Escolar content is written for candidates aged 12 to 15 and is served only once a guardian's address has been given.

Payment

Pois Completo is a single payment that unlocks the paid features for the lifetime of the service. It is not a subscription and does not renew. Credits are a separate, consumable purchase that pays for AI feedback; they do not expire but they are used up as you spend them. Payments are processed by our payment provider; we never see or store your card details.

Refunds and the right to withdraw

If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK you have a statutory right to withdraw from a digital purchase within 14 days; in Brazil, the Código de Defesa do Consumidor gives seven days for purchases made online. Because access is immediate, the EU and UK right is lost once you have begun using the unlocked content, if you asked for immediate access and acknowledged the loss at checkout. Outside those cases, write to us: we would rather refund somebody who is unhappy than keep the money. Credits already spent on AI feedback cannot be refunded, because the work has been done.

AI feedback

AI feedback is produced by a language model. It is a machine opinion, not an examiner's, and it can be wrong. Do not treat it as an official assessment or as a prediction of your exam result. If a piece of feedback fails to generate, the credits are returned automatically.

Attainment records

A certificate records that your account met a published standard inside this app, on the dates and with the results shown. It is not a language qualification. We may revoke a record issued in error, in which case the verification page will say so.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to extract the question bank in bulk, resell access, automate exam attempts, or interfere with the service or other learners' accounts.

Limits

The service is provided as it is. We do not guarantee that using it will result in passing any examination, reaching any band or score, or obtaining nationality, residence, a university place or a revalidated degree. Nothing here is legal advice, and the requirements summarised in the nationality and credentials track are a reading of published sources on the date shown.
